Connect to the GlobalProtect VPN for Mac. NOTE: GlobalProtect for Mac supports macOS 10.11 or higher. To connect to the GlobalProtect VPN for Mac, do the following: Open the GlobalProtect VPN client on your machine, enter the Portal Address as utdvpn.utdallas.edu, and click Connect. GlobalProtect will take a few seconds to reach the connection. How to use and configure GlobalProtect (Mac) Client Download and Install. Users on a WesternU computer can find the software in the Self Service Application The application can found in the Applications list in finder, or a Spotlight search; Find and select the GlobalProtect Client, and click 'Install'.
- Download the GlobalProtect Installer for macOS.
- Open the GlobalProtect.pkg file and run the GlobalProtect Installer.
- Click the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
- Click Security & Privacy and open the General Tab.
- Click 'Open Anyway' to allow the app to install.
- On the Installation Type screen, check the GlobalProtect checkbox and click Continue. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- The GlobalProtect app will pop up and ask for a portal address. Enter:
go.secure.uark.edu - Click Connect. Enter your UARK username and password. Click Sign In.
Once connected, the globe icon in your status panel will switch to blue.
Gateways
Most campus users will automatically connect using the General Access gateway and do not need to change any settings.

- After upgrading the Mac GlobalProtect client, the client never connects and just 'spins'. Click the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner, then click 'System Preferences', then 'Security'. Look for a message at the bottom of the window stating 'System software from.
If you are part of a team with special access, you will automatically be logged into the appropriate gateway. To switch between gateways:
- Click the blue globe icon in the status panel.
- Select another gateway from the drop-down menu. You will be disconnected from the previous gateway.
If you do not have appropriate access to a selected gateway, the app will disconnect.

This document describes how to download and install the WiscVPN GlobalProtect VPN client on a Mac computer. GlobalProtect supports Mac 32/64 bit Operating Systems.
Note: The newest client (5.1) is not compatible with OS X 10.10 or earlier. Please see Where Can I Download and Install the GlobalProtect App? for more information.
Download the Client
Installing the GlobalProtect Client (Mac)
- Open the downloaded file. Proceed through the installation process, you will need to click continue, then continue, then install.
- Some users will be prompted with a message saying 'System Extension Blocked.' In this case, select Open Security Preferences then select Allow in the following window.
- If you are prompted for your password, type it in. It will look like the image below once you have typed in your password. Then select install software.
